Born at Abington Hospital, she was the first of three children born to the late Harold and Jane Gensler. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Gensler, Jr.

She was the loving wife of Mark Patterson, also a retired teacher from Wissahickon School District.

A 1967 graduate of Wissahickon High School and a 1971 graduate of Kutztown University. She earned her master's degree from Villanova University. Lynne worked in the Wissahickon School District's English department for 35 years. After spending many fulfilling years teaching, she recently retired in June of 2007. She also enjoyed her pets (Daisy and Sugar), gardening, Philadelphia sports teams, tennis, and spending time with her family.

Lynne is survived by two daughters, Lauren Patterson (soon to be married to John Davis) and Anne Hammond (Justin), a stepdaughter, Kelly Patterson, her sister, Nancy Burke (Jim Steimke) and two grandchildren, Julian and Alex.
