Merritt Leigh Blackburn

Merritt Leigh Blackburn of Lower Gwynedd died February 11, 2010 in Montgomeryville.  He was 68 years old.   

Born in Norristown, he was the son of the late John S and Isabel Blackburn.  He is survived by his wife Margery (nee Gildersleeve) Blackburn who he was married to for 45 years.    

He attended Plymouth Whitemarsh High School and Gettysburg College.  He was employed by Alan Wood Steel Company as a salesman for 13 years.  He also worked for Feralloy and Chesapeake Finished Metals and retired in January 2007.   

He served in the Army, was a member of St Matthews Episcopal Church and was a member of the Old York Road Country Club and former Vestry Member at the Church.  He was an avid Civil War Buff and Penn State Fan.  

He is survived by his son Glenn Thomas Blackburn of Clarksville, MD and a daughter Wendy Lynne Kleckner of Lansdale, PA.  He is also survived by his sister, Lois Rapson of Lansdale PA. He was the proud grandfather of Patrick, Micaela, Addie and Bobby.   

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 20 at 11am at St Matthews Episcopal Church, 919 Tennis Ave, Maple Glen PA officiated by Rev. David S Robinson.  Friends may call from 9 to 10:30.  Interment at Riverside Cemetery.
