Ruth Hunter

Ruth Hunter (nee Romberger), 79, passed away suddenly on November 2, 2010 at her home in Lower Gwynedd, PA. Originally from Paxtang, PA and later Langhorne, she was the beloved wife of the late George B. Hunter.

Mrs. Hunter graduated first in her section from the Phila. Museum College of Art and was an avid and award-winning member of the local art community.

Following graduation from art school, Mrs. Hunter began a highly successful career as a fashion illustrator at the CA Rowell department store in Germantown. She later worked as a freelance illustrator and graphic artist and was a member of the Phila. Museum of Art, Woodmere Art Museum and served as Secretary of the Oreland Art Center.

Mrs. Hunter will be greatly missed and long-remembered not only as a gifted artist, but also as a devoted friend and loving mother.

She is survived by sons Fred (Brooklyn, NY) and Todd (Phila, PA) and daughter-in-law Lilian Philiposian. She was the beloved sister of Ira Romberger III (Hulmeville, PA), Nancy Aldrich (Laconia, NH), Samuel Romberger (Golden, CO), Leslie Pixley (Malvern, PA) and the late John Romberger (Carlisle, PA).

Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at the First Presbyterian Church of Ambler, 4 South Ridge Ave, Ambler PA 19002 on Thursday, Nov. 11. Guests will be received beginning at 1:30 PM, followed by a service at 2 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Ambler.
