John Morley
Ostrander, 77 of Fort Washington, PA, died
June 16, 2010
peacefully at home after a heroic battle of
8 years with Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was born
on March 25, 1933 to the late John Keller
Ostrander and Margaret French Ostrander of
Mount Airy, PA. He was the beloved husband
of Barbara Ford Ostrander. They were happily
married for 52 years. He is survived by his
sister June Krebs, son John Keller Ostrander
II and his wife Elisabeth Jacqueline
Ostrander, daughters Pamela Ford Barthold
and Deborah Leigh Holmes and his 7
inspirational grandchildren: John, Matthew,
Nathan, Laura, Skyler, Ryker, and Tytus.
John attended
Henry H. Houston School in Mt. Airy and
Germantown Academy where he graduated in
1950. He graduated from his father’s alma
mater Purdue University with a Bachelors of
Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering in
1955. One of John’s proudest moments was
when all three of his children graduated
from Purdue University.
He served in
the Army Ordinance Corps. and was stationed
in Watertown Arsenal, near Boston with the
rank of 1st Lieutenant. His first
civilian job was as a Mechanical Engineer
for RCA in Camden, NJ. After several years
he then joined AEL (American Electronics
Laboratories) in Colmar, PA. Through hard
work, dedication, and being well respected
in his field, he rose through the ranks to a
Management position and eventually retired
from the company in 1995.
John was a
dedicated Assistant Scout Master at troop #3
in Amber, PA, a Cub Scout Master at
Germantown Academy and active with Indian
Princesses. His many talents included
woodworking, woodcarving, model building,
miniature trains and teaching stained glass.
He enjoyed dining and golfing as a member of
“The Fat Cats” at Talamore Country Club.
He loved traveling with his wife,
enjoyed relaxing at his summer home in Sea
Isle City, NJ and winter stays in Sarasota,
FL.
John was an avid reader and loved
participating in many of his wife’s art
shows.

in celebrating his life at the memorial
service on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at
Shaeff-Myers, 145 Tennis Ave., Amber, PA
19002. The family will be receiving guests
starting at 10am with a service to follow at
11am. Internment will be private.
