Marie Semet, of
Hamburg,
PA, formerly of Maple Glen, PA
died on June 30, 2010 at the age of 89.
She was born in
Philadelphia
the daughter of Emma (Waibel) and Wilhelm
Mannschreck and was married to the late
Charles G Semet Sr. on December 31, 1937.
She was a graduate of
Simon
Gratz High
School in
Philadelphia
She was a resident of Maple Glen for
43 years before moving to
Brooksville,
Florida.
While in Maple Glen,
she was employed for 20 years by Upper
Dublin
Township as a Police
Dispatcher.
She was a leader for Cub Scouts,
Brownies and Girl Scouts in Jarrettown and
was also a member of the Jarrettown
Jokesters (musical review).
She had a summer
residence in Forked
River, NJ,
where she was a member of Flotilla #79,
Forked River,
United States
Coast Guard Auxiliary.
She served as Flotilla Commander,
District Secretary, Division Public
Relations Officer and District Safe Boating
Chairperson.
She received many commendations and
in 1970 received the National Award for
Outstanding Female Auxiliarist.
In 1980, she moved to
Brooksville, Fl, residing in High point, where she was
a historian for 13 years.
She served as board member of the
Social Club and was a member of the Garden
Club.
She was also a member of the Hernando
County Women’s Fire Auxiliary and Republican
Women’s Club.
She moved to
Hamburg, PA in 2000 where she was a member of St. Johns Lutheran
Church.
Marie easily made
friends and enjoyed telling jokes.
She took pleasure in swimming,
reading, playing cards and board games, and
spending time with her family.
In recent years, she enjoyed cruise
ship vacations and family gatherings at
Shady Maple.
She is survived by 3
children; Charles G. Semet, Jr. of Hilltown, PA,
Robert J. Semet of Ambler, PA and Linda S
(Semet) Curtis of Bernville, PA.
Also surviving are 6 grandchildren,
10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great
grand daughter.
She was pre-deceased by her sister
Dorothy Grassini and her brother William
Mannschreck.
Services will be held
Tuesday July 6, 2010 at 11:30 am at
Shaeff-Myers Funeral Home,
145 Tennis Ave,
Ambler PA.
Friends may call after 10:30am.
Internment will be at
Hillside
cemetery.
In lieu of flowers,
memorials may be sent to the Lehigh Valley
