Alfred L. Farr, Jr. passed away peacefully on November 27, 2023 at Towne Manor West in Norristown, PA.
Born on September 30, 1941 in Philadelphia, PA as the only child to the late Alfred L. Farr Sr. and Hazel (née Avinger) Farr. He graduated in 1959 from Neshaminy High School. He went on to work in sales, selling ads for the Intelligencer Newspaper for over 15 years. He later married the former Elizabeth Byrne on July 8, 1995.
Al served honorable in the Navy Reserves. He also belonged to the Veterans of the Civil War.
Al was a dedicated member of his church. He was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Newtown, PA before moving to the Hatboro area and joining St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Maple Glen. He enjoyed being a member of the men’s group at the church.
Al is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Farr; step-daughter, Lisa Byrne; two step-sons, Christopher (Deborah) Byrne and Michael (Lisa) Bryne; and 4 grandchildren, Meghan, Emily, Colin, and Erin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sons; Steven Farr and Jason Farr.
A funeral service will be held for Al on Wednesday December 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church located at 919 Tennis Ave, Maple Glen, PA 19002 with Rev. Rodney Roehner, Rector, officiating. Interment will follow at the church memorial garden. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall of the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Alfred’s name can be made to St. Matthew's Episcopal Church at the above address.
