Andrew "Andy" Ernst, 87, a resident at Neshaminy Manor Long term care facility, passed away on May 3, 2023. He was born on October 25, 1935, in Pittsburgh, PA, to Louis and Pauline Ernst. Andy was a devoted husband to his wife Roberta "Bobbi" Ernst, caring for her as she has battled with Alzheimer's disease over the last several years.
Andy and Bobbi met in 1977 when Andy asked her for a date after he purchased a car that Bobbi was selling. They were married in January 1978 and Andy not only got a car in the deal, but also a new family. Andy was also a loving stepfather to both Melissa (Noah) Bennett and Chris Noah.
Andy served in the US Army and was proud of his military associations. He spent his career as the owner of Ernst Painting, a business he opened after a lifetime of house painting.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Ernst, mother, Pauline (Hartman) Ernst, and brother, Lou Ernst. He is survived by his wife, Roberta Ernst, stepchildren, Melissa Bennett, Chris Noah, and their spouses, Dick Bennett and Kathy Noah, as well as step-grandchildren, Derek Noah (wife Kelly), Justin Noah, and Zack Noah, ad his step great grandson Brendan Noah.
In his free time, Andy enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, swimming, and watching movies. He was also a big football fan and loved watching his Pittsburgh Steelers. He also loved to eat and enjoyed holidays with family. His favorite holiday was Thanksgiving – he looked forward to Bloody Mary’s in the morning with a big breakfast and he counted the moments until it was time to carve the turkey. Besides his wife Bobbi his other real love was his German shepherds. They had 3 over the course of their marriage and he loved every moment he had with them.
