Barbara C. Rose, beloved wife, mother, and Nana, passed away peacefully from complications of esophageal cancer, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 28, 1954, and in the 71 years she graced this world, Barb touched countless lives with her warmth, generosity, and boundless love.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Barry Rose, her three cherished children—Katrina Smith (Jeff), Jason Rose (Stephanie), and Rebecca (Bill) Rasmussen—and her six beautiful grandchildren: Nikoline, William, Clara, Charlotte, Mabel, and Anastasia, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy.
Barb’s life was defined by her extraordinary commitment to her community. She poured her heart into the Upper Dublin Soccer Club, UDHS Swimming, the Fort Washington Swim and Tennis Club, where her energy, encouragement, and willingness to jump in wherever needed made her a treasured presence.
More than anything, Barb loved surrounding herself with her family. Whether during sun-soaked beach trips to Brigantine and Ocean City, NJ, or while creating magical holidays filled with warmth, laughter, and tradition, she made every gathering feel special. Her home—and her heart—were always open.
Barb was, simply put, a beautiful human being. Her kindness radiated. Her spirit lifted those around her. She met people with compassion, listened with intention, and gave without hesitation. Those fortunate enough to know her will carry her light forward for the rest of their lives.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and wholehearted dedication to the people and communities she cherished. Barb will be deeply missed, and forever remembered.
In lieu of flowers, please hug a grand kid, start an argument with a son-in-law, talk to a stranger, or cheer for a Philly sports team. These were all things that Nana loved to do.
