Bridgett J. Pitt

April 7, 1940 — April 22, 2026

It is with deep love and profound sorrow that the family of Bridgett J. Pitt announces her peaceful passing on April 22, 2026, surrounded by the family she cherished. Born on April 7, 1940, Bridgett lived a life rich in love, laughter, and lasting bonds that will forever be felt by all who knew her.

Bridgett was preceded in death by her beloved sisters, Concettina (Agro)Herring and Marian Agro Mack, and her parents, Louise and Joseph Agro Sr.,whose memory she carried with her always. She is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Vincent Pitt; her beloved brother, Joseph Agro Jr., and his wife, Christina; her ten cherished nieces and nephews; and a joyful abundance of great-nieces and great-nephews who brought endless delight to her heart.

Bridgett and Vince shared a remarkable love story that began as love at first sight. Together, they built a life filled with companionship, adventure, and shared dreams. They traveled widely and embraced experiences they had once only imagined. United by a spirit of adventure, both earned their pilot’s licenses and found great joy in flying together—journeys that reflected the enduring partnership and deep bond they shared throughout their lives.

Bridgett held many distinguished positions in government throughout her career, quietly breaking barriers and paving the way for others. She began her career as a secretary to the Commander of a Defense Department contracting organization at Fort Holabird and rose to serve as Deputy within that organization. Over time, she advanced to one of the most senior levels of the federal civil service, a testament to her leadership and dedication. Her career continued to flourish, leading her to roles of great responsibility that took her around the world. In later years, she often reflected that “the most important thing for any of us is to find our way to heaven.”

Guided by a deep and abiding faith, Bridgett lived with compassion, humility, and a strong sense of purpose. She was a devoted member of the John Neumann Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order. She found great joy in the kitchen, exploring a wide range of cuisines and continually learning new techniques and recipes. For a time, she was an avid bridge player and competitive tournament participant; in 2008, she finished first as an Ace of Clubs winner. Bridgett also treasured sunny summer days at Rehoboth Beach, where she created lasting memories with family and friends. She was known for sharing pizzelles, a cherished tradition passed down from her mother.

Above all, Bridgett had a deep love for her family and friends. She took genuine joy in caring for others, offering her support, and celebrating their accomplishments.

Bridgett’s warm spirit, gentle grace, and unwavering love touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a steady, generous, and comforting presence, and her memory will remain a lasting blessing in the hearts of those who loved her.
