Cover for Carol Douglas's Obituary

Carol Douglas

Dec 16, 1932 — Oct 1, 2026

I am writing to share the sad news that Carol passed away peacefully at her home at Ann's Choice Retirement Community in Warminster on October 1, 2026 at the age of 93.

She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Douglas, to whom she had been married for 57 years. Her partner in later years, James P. Morgan, predeceased her on July 25, 2026. She is survived by her children, Thomas A. (Dawn), David M. (Liane), and Kimberly D. (Kevin), as well as 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Carol was born in Philadelphia to Marian Cadwallader and Alan Owston Mann on December 16, 1932. She graduated from the Stevens School in Mt. Airy in 1950 and attended Goucher College in Towson, MD, where she was active in many clubs and made lifelong friends. As a senior, she was elected Chairperson of the Judicial Board, and she graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1954.

In 1953, Carol married her college sweetheart from Lafayette College, Thomas J. Douglas, USMC. While he served, she completed college, and their first son was born at Camp Lejeune, NC. Once their youngest child began first grade, she worked part-time in retailing, and later spent 10 years working at Montgomery County Community College.

An active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ambler, Carol served as a Deacon, Elder, and on a PNC. Her deep interest in history led her to collect World War II military autographs.

At Ann's Choice, she organized floor dinners, served on the Stained Glass Window Committee, and enjoyed lifelong learning classes, bridge, going to the gym, and walking early morning 2.5-mile walks in the park.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to th First Presbyterian Church of Ambler, 4 S. Ridge Ave. Ambler, PA 19002, or to the Benevolent Care Fund at Ann's Choice
