Charlotte Ann (née Hiner) Vogel passed away peacefully the morning of December 29, 2022.
Born at home on the Home Farm in Mustoe, Virginia to the late Harry Tucker and Mary (née Harris) Hiner. She was the second youngest of ten of four sisters and six brothers. Her youngest sibling, her brother Boss, passed away in November of 2022.
Charlotte Has been very active in scouting for over 50 years, holding many positions and receiving many distinguished awards including the Silver Beaver in 1998, the District Award of Merit, the Council District Commissioner Award. She is currently registered as the Training Chairperson for pack 408. She was most proud of training, and completing her Wood Badge and getting her Beads as a Fox Patrol member. She attended several gatherings here, and in Canada to celebrate being a wood badge trained member.
Charlotte was a den leader, coach, committee member, Assistant District Commissioner, and co-chaired the PowWow. She worked as a Day Care Director, and aid for New Horizons Montessori School in Fort Washington for 40 years and spent the last four years at Happy Minds Montessori School as a Teacher’s Aid. She as a member of AMI.
She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fort Washington Fire Company and as a member of the Upper Dublin Band Parents Association. She assisted with many fundraising events and was a friend of the Kiwanis.
Charlotte is survived by her husband of 57 years, John Howard Vogel, Sr. whom she wed in June of 1965 on Langley Air Force Base. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Scott H. Vogel; many nieces and nephews including Susan Vogel Davis and Cindy Vogel Cepko and many more; as well as an older sister, Pearl. All of her siblings but Pearl have preceded her in death. In addition, she was preceded in death by her son, John H. Vogel, Jr. in 2005.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Shaeff-Myers Funeral Home located at 145 Tennis Ave, Ambler, PA 19002. Family and friends may call beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local cub, Boy/Girl Scout unit in Charlotte’s name.
