Edgar A. Reed, 3^rd, 80, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025 at Jefferson Abington Hospital.

He was born on January 2, 1945 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Edgar A. Reed, Jr. and Theresa (née Rock) Reed. He attended Central High School and went on to attend and graduate with a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering from Drexel University before attending the Naval Post Graduate School. He later earned an MBA degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

He worked for over 38 years as an aerospace engineer for the Naval Department of Defense before retiring and serving as the Vice-President of L3 Communications for a period of time.

Edgar, affectionately known as Skip, enjoyed reading, watching the Phillies, golfing, smoking his pipe, and most of all spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia (née Calfina) Reed; two daughters, Traci (Rick) Altomare and Melissa Reed, Ed.D.; three grandchildren, Ryan Altomare, Jillian (Eric) Breuninger, and Gabrielle (Lewis) Dickinson; five great-grandchildren, Colton, Emma, Ava, Reed, and Lane; as well as a sister, Linda (John) McCormick.

No immediate services will be held and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Edgar’s name may be made to the Cardiology department of Abington Hospital.
