James N. Rule

James Nobel Rule II, 87, of Ambler, Pennsylvania, passed away at home on February 9, 2026. He was born September 24, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA to William Thompson Rule and Marguerite Quickel Rule.

After graduating from Cheltenham High School James served in the U.S. Navy. Upon discharge he attended Temple University earning a degree in Engineering. James will be remembered for his quiet intelligence, a wry sense of humor, and his enthusiasm for building and sailing wooden boats.

James is survived by his wife of 66 years, Edith Rule; his children, Jeffery and Kathryn; and five grandchildren Heather, Scott, Steven, Ava, and Visal.

A memorial gathering celebrating James’ life will be held Monday February 16, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Shaeff-Myers Funeral Home, 145 Tennis Ave, Ambler, PA 19002. 

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in James’ memory to the American Red Cross.
