Lois R. Brandt

October 19, 1930 — October 5, 2023

Lois R. Brandt (aka Justice) born October 19, 1930 in Philadelphia, passed away on October 5, 2023 in Ft. Washington after a short illness.

Lois was a loving and devoted wife to C. Raymond Brandt from 1952 until his death in 1995 and George (Bud) Justice from 2001 until his death in 2013. She was a kind and loving mother. She was preceded in death by her son Carl Robert Brandt and her daughter Kristen Brandt Johnson. She is survived by her daughters Patricia Lynn Brandt and Lauren Brandt Hopkins (Cliff), grandchildren Kyle Brandt Hopkins, Samantha Hopkins Costantino (Chris), Paul Johnson Jr., Matthew Johnson, and great-granddaughter Charlotte Ryan Costantino.

Lois spent many years in the field of early education teaching for The Salvation Army and the Philadelphia school system. She was a founding director and teacher of two area Pre Schools. She was a former director of the After School Center and a PreK teacher at the Springside School.

Lois was a long-time resident at Gwynedd Estates where she held multiple volunteer positions including President of the Residents' Association, Floor Director, Co-chair of the Garden Club, Health Liaison for Springhouse Skilled Nursing, Resident Ambassador with the Marketing Department, Ethics Committee member, Representative with ACTS Home Health, and Assistant at the Reception Desk.  She was also a long time member of Supplee Presbyterian Church in Maple Glen.

Her love for children was legendary and she was often referred to as the "child whisperer".  She was an avid traveler; taking a trip on the Orient Express was a highlight for her as well as traveling to Ireland where her father was born and raised.  She enjoyed gardening and reading.

Lois was known for being a wonderful friend who treasured and nurtured her friendships old and new; she was instrumental in organizing "Let's Get Acquainted" dinners for new residents at Gwynedd Estates so new residents could meet people and become more comfortable in their new home.  Her words of advice to new residents, "Keep outside interests. Be a good friend and stay active."

We mourn Lois' passing but carry with us all of the wonderful memories we have shared together over these years; she will live on forever through those memories that we treasure deeply within our hearts.

Interment will be private for family at Whitemarsh Memorial Park. A celebration of life will be held at Gwynedd Estates on October 30, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. Donations in her name may be made to ACTS Samaritan Fund or Supplee Presbyterian Church (information provided below).
