Nancy P. Birchett, age 91 of Brentwood TN passed Friday, February 21 shortly after an advanced cancer diagnosis. The same ever strong and determined manner—sprinkled with a sense of humor—that has served her well through the years allowed Nancy the ability to manage her remaining weeks bravely as she enjoyed multiple visits made by each of her children, their spouses and her grandchildren. She died at home surrounded by family and the “two earthly angels” who assisted in allowing her to live her final weeks as fully as possible. Nancy is survived by the couple’s four children—Gary Birchett (Tammy) Arrington, TN, Linda Lerchenfeld (John) Murfreesboro, TN, Ken Birchett (Laura) Asheville, NC and Nancy J. Birchett, Destin, FL. She has six loving grandchildren—Philip, Andrew and William Birchett, Christian Lerchenfeld and Lauren Lerchenfeld Arbit and Brianna Birchett.
Nancy was born December 9, 1928 in Philadelphia, PA. She attended school while living with her mother and upon graduating from high school, began a 10 year career with AT&T. Nancy met her future husband when he was on leave in the city while serving in the Navy. In 1954, she married her Navy sailor, Edward S. Birchett of Yazoo City, MS., and the years to follow were devoted to managing the couple’s home and raising a family. After living in Philadelphia for over 40 years, the couple eventually moved with their four children to Pittsburg, KS and shortly thereafter to Brentwood, TN. As the children entered their teens, Nancy gradually became involved in the family business, Data Forms Co., founded by her husband in nearby Franklin. She was grateful to have enjoyed 56 years of marriage until the death of her husband, Ed, in July 2010. Nancy is a member of Historic Franklin Presbyterian Church and is grateful for those who visited when she could no longer attend services.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with service immediately following at Brentwood-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, Brentwood, TN. A private Internment will follow several days after in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler, PA.
