Randa Roess Sutch, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2025 at Normandy Farms Estates, surrounded by the warmth of her family. She was 86.
Born on March 2, 1939 in Oil City, Pennsylvania, Randa was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph Randolph and Julia (née Snyder) Roess. She graduated from Swarthmore High School, and continued her education at Sullens Junior College in Bristol, Virginia. For several years, she served as an executive administrator for Sun Oil Company, a role in which her bright demeanor and personal connection shone, before dedicating herself to raising her family.
Randa was a longtime, active member of Abington Presbyterian Church, where she generously shared her time and wisdom as a Sunday School teacher. Her dedication extended to her children's lives, where she was a tireless volunteer, often found leading Cub Scouts, coaching lacrosse, actively participating in PTO, and cheering from the sidelines at numerous sporting events. She also found joy and camaraderie as a member of The Questers, indulging her interest in history and antiques, as well as enjoying her friendships and time spent with her Bridge Club and Garden Club. Randa loved the beach, especially late afternoon sunsets. She treasured time spent at Elk Mountain with family and friends, creating lasting memories of joy and togetherness. She also enjoyed spending time at Old York Road Country Club playing golf with her dear friends.
Her greatest joy was her family. She especially cherished holidays, which brought everyone together for laughter, good food, and unforgettable memories. She is remembered for her unwavering support, always encouraging her children and grandchildren to strive for their best and reach their full potential. Randa is survived by her devoted husband of many years, Dr. William Rutherford Sutch II. She was a loving mother to Suzanne (Harry) Williams, William “Bo” Rutherford (Taryn) Sutch III, and Pete (Hunter) Sutch. Her legacy continues through her six adored grandchildren: Pippa, Brayden, Carter, Tinley, Hayden, and Blaire, who brought immense light and laughter into her life.
