Robert L. Ervin, Sr.

Robert L. Ervin, Sr., 100, passed away on June 2, 2025 at Foulkeways at Gwynedd.

He was born on November 10, 1924 in Wyncote, PA. to the late Ralph William Ervin and Marion Lachot Ervin.

Bob was in the class of 1943 at Cheltenham High School, a three-letter man

in football, basketball and baseball. He was a veteran of the Army Air Force during World War II serving from 1943 to 1946. A graduate of the Charles Morris Price School of Advertising and Journalism, he began his business career in the Advertising Department of Smith Kline and French Laboratories moving on to the advertising agency field and was employed by the worldwide agency N. W. Ayer where he achieved the title of Vice President and Account Supervisor. One of his major accounts was the U.S. Army Recruiting Command where he was recognized for “Outstanding service during the formative years of of the Volunteer Army.”

In addition to his business career, he was actively involved in community affairs. He served on the Whitpain Township Zoning Hearing Board for many years—chairing the Board for the last seven years of his service. He co-chaired the 300th anniversary celebration of the same Township. He also chaired the board of Chestnut Hill Hospital when it was part of Chestnut Hill Health Care and was actively involved in numerous Boards and committies covering health care, local library, environmental organizations and retirement living. 

Bob was a member of Sunnybrook Golf Club (president 1982 – 1985), and the Penllyn Club.

He was married to Elisabeth T. Ervin for almost 70 years until her death in May 2022.

Bob is survived by two daughters, Elisabeth (Richard) Ervin-Blankenheim, and Anne (William) Overton; a son, Robert L. (Linda) Ervin, Jr.; three grandchildren, Catherine (Jared) Londry, Robert L. (Caroline) Ervin III, and Graham Ervin; as well as three great grandchildren; Adeline, Alexandra, and Theodore Londry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his older brother of Ralph W. Ervin, Jr.

Services and Interment in Church of the Redeemer Cemetery will be held privately by the family.
