Robert Jackiewicz, 98, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2022 at Spring House Estates.
Bob was born on April 10, 1924 in Harrison, NJ to the late Benjamin and Helena (née Matusewicz) Jackiewicz. He was a graduate of Seton Hall College. He honorably served in the United States Air Force as a pilot.
Bob was employed by IBM and worked his way through the ranks to become the Director of Education for the company. He was also a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Maple Glen.
Robert is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 73 years, Marilyn (née Magee) Jackiewicz. In addition, he is lovingly remembered by his children; Gary (Monica Zoldak) Jackiewicz, Robert Lawrence Jackiewicz; Pat (Ed) McBurnie; four grandchildren, Gary, Paul, Ed (Katy), and Katelyn (Mike) Shinkle; and six great-grandchildren, Christian, Kiley, Grace, Sarah, Madison, and Anna. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence Jackiewicz.
Bob was a lover of life. He embraced it whether its treasure was found at the end of a fishing pole line or the end of a fork! Bob valued literature and near and far travel destinations. Bob was also inspired by life. He favored the camera to capture it, the pen or keyboard to write about it, and his words to teach others what he learned about it.
But, more than anything, he adored his wife, Mickey. His memoires reflect that temperament when he informs the reader about the day he married, “From then on, I do not think of myself in the first person, “I.” It became, and is, “We.”
He cherished his children, grandchildren and his great-grandchildren, sharing that love equally with the spouses of his children and grandchildren. The love expressed by Bob for his family held no ranking.
He enjoyed not only being a mentor but also a trusted friend to all.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, December 29, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church located at 33 Conwell Dr, Maple Glen, PA 19002. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
