Robert Daniel Lanhan

September 11, 1933 — February 1, 2025

Robert Daniel (Dan) Lanhan passed away February 1, 2025 as a result of chronic heart and kidney problems he's been battling for several years. He was 91 years old and was married to the late Genevieve Anne Lanhan for 65 years.

Dan was born September 11, 1933 in Nash County North Carolina during the height of the Great Depression. His parents divorced when he was 2 years old and had no real contact with his father during his life. His mother Rachel took a job with the US Government in Philadelphia. During this time, Dan was raised by Aunts and Uncles in rural North Carolina until he was reunited with his mother, who had remarried, in Philadelphia during WW2.

Dan enlisted in the US Air Force at age 17 and served 4 years. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1954, Dan took advantage of the GI Bill and attended Philadelphia Wireless Technical Institute to become an Electronic Technician. Upon graduation, Dan took a job with RCA Corporation as a TV/Stereo repairman, which included installing window air conditioners and rooftop TV antennas. Dan also worked side jobs to support the family.

With the encouragement of his wife, Dan left RCA to start his own TV repair business which operated for over 20 years. Additionally, he began working for the Neshaminy School District as a morning school bus driver to supplement the family income.

When TV's began to become through-away items, Dan closed his TV business and began to drive a school bus full time. After retiring as a school bus driver, Dan became a Crossing Guard for Lower Southampton Township. Known as "Mr Dan" to his kids, he met many families during this time whom still remember him.

Dan enjoyed cooking on the grill, fishing, gardening, card playing, tending bar at parties, writing editorials to the local paper, and all things Philadelphia sports related.

Dan is survived by two sons; Robert (Kathy) and Christopher, a daughter Denise (Mike), two grandchildren Robert (Rachel) and Jessica (Tom), and great grandchild Theo.

No services will be held at this time. Dan was passionate about United States Veterans. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Tunnels-to-Towers or another Veterans' organization of your choice.
