d. October 21, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family of Sylvia Simelson, wife to Steven Simelson, announce her passing on October 21, 2024 at the age of 95. She had been a resident at Woodland Creek Memory Care in Dresher, PA. She was a wonderfully devoted and loving mother to her three surviving daughters Cathy, Nancy and Amy. Sylvia was also Nana to her 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. They loved her dearly.

Sylvia was born in London, England on August 27, 1929. As a teenager, she experienced and lived through the bombings of Europe during WWII. At the conclusion of the war, the family traveled to America to start a new life. She became a long-time resident of Elkins Park. Sylvia was blessed with 59 years of marriage to her husband, Steve. She was a friend to many leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength, and a dose of British humor. After her girls were grown, she became a docent of the Philadelphia Zoo for 20 years, as well as the University of Pennsylvania Museum specializing in Egyptian history. Her other interests included: tennis (playing doubles into her 80’s), Bridge, cooking, reading, gardening, crossword puzzles, and watching PBS.
