Thalia America Higgins

Thalia America Higgins (nee Saavedra) passed away on November 18, 2015 peacefully at her daughters home surrounded by family at the age of 91. She was born in Esmeraldas, Ecuador by the Rio Verde the daughter of Don Daniel and Dona Hilda Saavedra-Abad. She came to the United States in 1951 with her loving husband of 20+ years, Joseph C Higgins, Jr. In addition to being a beloved Mom, she worked for Acme Markets for 33 years as a Meat Wrapper until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of Calvary Methodist Church, Ambler PA. She is survived by her children; Claude L. Higgins (Doris), George E.Higgins (Brenda), Omar E. Higgins (Linda), Richard L. Higgins (Romayne), T. Marta Holden (Bruce), John A. Higgins (Patricia), and Joseph D. Higgins (Cindy). She was predeceased by Daniel E. Higgins (Dee) on October 29, 2015. She is survived by her brothers Daniel Eugenio and Dante, and was predeceased by her sisters Danilla, Elita, Atala, Voleta and her brother Omar. Also surviving are 19 Grandchildren and 29 Great-Grandchildren. Services will be held at Shaeff-Myers Funeral Home, 145 Tennis Ave, Ambler PA, on Monday November 23, 2015. A viewing from 9:30 to 11, with the service beginning at 11am at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Gary Lefever. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Calvary Methodist Church.
