Alfred "Butch" F. Rotelle

April 10, 1940 — September 5, 2022

Alfred Frank Rotelle, known to many as “Al and/or Butch”, of Hatfield and formerly of Maple Glen, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022.

Alfred was born on April 10, 1940 in Abington, PA to the late Alfred John and Helen (née Maahs) Rotelle. Alfred graduated from Ambler High School in 1959 and went on to graduate from Peirce College. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, his brother John, his grandson John and his beloved wife Faith.

Alfred leaves behind his three cherished children and spouses, along with 12 grandchildren: Wayne & Deborah Rotelle of Quakertown, along with their children, Brianna Nennstiel (Carson), Brooke Gwaltney (Woodrow), Juliana and Tyler; Karyn & Frederick Badgett of Albuquerque NM, along with their children, AlanaRae Garcia (Faith), Zachary (Kassandra) and Kennedy Quintana (Diego); Craig & Jill Rotelle of Collegeville, along with their children, Anthony, Vincent, Nicole, John and Rachel. Alfred also leaves behind 3 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and Carol Antrim, his beloved friend and companion of 11 years.

Alfred lived out his strong faith as an active parishioner for 56 years at St. Alphonsus Church in Maple Glen, before moving to Hatfield and becoming a member of St. Maria Goretti Church. Always with a servant heart, Al was also active at St Theresa’s, Little Egg Harbor, NJ where he served as Co-Chair for the fundraising committee to build a new church.

Al & his brother, John, continued the business their father started in 1926, Rotelle Inc. Al (Butch) led the Food Service team to become recognized as a progressive and leading distributor in the Food Service Distribution industry. Butch always respected his employees, vendors and customers and sincerely missed seeing them when the business was sold.

Butch proudly served for 44 years on the Ambler Savings & Loan board. He provided valuable guidance for this institution that helped so many in the local community. The depositors elected Alfred Rotelle to the Board of Directors of Ambler Savings and Loan Association in January 1973. Mr. Rotelle served on the Board of Directors and later the Board of Trustees of Ambler Savings Bank for forty-four years including as Vice-Chairman for the last nineteen years. Mr. Rotelle guided the bank safely through its expansion into new communities and new products, and his impact on the institution cannot be overstated.

Al could be found early every morning at the North Penn (Lansdale) YMCA. Al loved the Y. An active volunteer for 40 years, he served as President of the Board and Chairman of various committees, especially construction committees, He took pride in helping build the new facility. Al & Faith created the Rotelle Wellness Center in 2014 that has provided education & resources to lead a healthy lifestyle for the community. His leadership, anything is possible attitude, and willingness to help people, made the Y better for kids, families and older adults. Al will be missed by members, staff and volunteers of the Y.

Recently Butch’s interests included spending time with his family and friends. He appreciated his interactions with the customers while managing the Rotelle Complex in Hatfield. As most

have experienced in one way or another, Butch was always ready and willing to help anyone in need, and would never hesitate to jump in and get his hands dirty.

Butch loved the outdoors. He was a lifelong boatman, hunting enthusiast and snowmobiler. Butch was always active in his children’s interests and actively supported their activities, whether practices, football, hockey games, swim meets and Boy Scouts, and always showing pride for his children. This carried down to his grandchildren as well, showing up to their many interests and activities. He enjoyed traveling and sharing his experiences with all. He especially enjoyed the Albuquerque Balloon Festival. His abundant energy will always be remembered, admired and appreciated.
