Geoffrey C. Thomas

Geoffrey C. Thomas of Warminster, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, August 11, 2022. He was a strong and faithful Christian, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was the eldest son of Clifton Darby Thomas (deceased) and Mary Elsa Thomas (deceased).

Geoffrey was born in Melbourne, Australia on February 5, 1935. He was a Fellow of the Australian Society of Accountants and was proud to have held the rank of Staff Sergeant in the Citizens Military Forces of the Australian Army. Geoffrey had nearly 10 years of farming and financial experience in Victoria and Western Australia prior to joining General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of General Motors Corporation. He joined GMAC Melbourne in 1961 where he had a distinguished 33-year career. In 1974, Geoffrey moved to the United States to join GMAC’s Treasury Division at GM headquarters in New York City. He received numerous promotions in his career that took him to Germany, Australia, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Geoffrey retired from GMAC in 1994 as Vice President of GMAC, a member of the GMAC Board of Directors, and Chairman of GMAC Mortgage Corporation. Upon retirement, Geoffrey became Director of GMAC Commercial Mortgage Bank in Horsham, Pennsylvania.

Geoffrey loved flying small aircrafts in both Australia and the US, fishing, hunting, boating, restoring Triumph motorcycles, and working on model trains and planes. He was also an avid reader and learner. He led his family with humility and integrity and set an example of what it looks like to faithfully serve others through his dedication to family and friends and active participation in church and community. Geoffrey will be remembered for his quick wit and deep love and devotion to his family.

Geoffrey is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Gwenyth G. Thomas, their daughter Cynthia Williams and husband Paul, daughter Lisa Herndon and husband Brian, grandchildren Matthew Williams and wife Rachel, Lauren Williams, Peter Williams, Lyndsey Herndon, and Geoffrey Herndon, great-grandchildren Lyla Williams and Emily Williams, and siblings Graeme Thomas, Robert Thomas, Elizabeth Iser, and Jaqueline Thomas.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022 at 10:30am at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 919 Tennis Avenue, Maple Glen, PA 19002. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Church Memorial Garden. Officiating all services is Reverend Rodney Roehner of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 919 Tennis Avenue, Maple Glen, PA 19002 or to the Cardiovascular Research Foundation (CRF.org).
