Gloria E Myers

Gloria E. Myers (née Strack) passed away peacefully in her sleep the night of February 13th at the age of 83. Born in Philadelphia on March 7th, 1937 to Arthur and Sarah (née Shaffer) Strack, she was their only daughter. She attended Upper Darby High school. She then went on to attend West Chester University earning a bachelor’s degree in physical education. In 1960 she married Robert “Bob” E. Myers. In her early career she worked as a teacher, but later remained at home helping to raise her son, Richard who was born in 1968.

She was a past member of the Oreland women’s club and the cooking group, Gourmet. She was also a member of the Women's auxiliary of the Fort Washington Fire Company. A strong Christian woman, she was also a longtime member of Supplee Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Gloria loved animals and she and her husband had many dogs throughout their years together. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, and going to the theater. One of Gloria’s favorite things was playing bridge with friends. She also enjoyed travelling with her husband and son. After Robert stepped back from his full-time duties at the funeral home, the two would escape the cold weather and winter in Florida surrounded by a host of good friends. She also enjoyed sailing on the Chesapeake Bay with her husband and good friends.

Gloria is survived by her loving husband, Robert Myers; one son, Richard Myers (Susan); and four grandchildren: Nicholas, Jack, Ashley, and Thomas.

Gloria’s funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 20th at Supplee Memorial Presbyterian Church at 10 a.m. The service will be private for family and close friends due to the COVID Pandemic, however the service will be livestreamed and is accessible through the following link: http://www.suppleepc.org . For those who will be in attendance, please plan on arriving at least 15 minutes before the start of the service. Burial will follow at Jarrettown United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Donations in Gloria’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Research.
