Joan completed her nursing education at Chestnut Hill Hospital class of ’52. She led a life of service as a Sunday School teacher at Trinity Lutheran Church for 40 years, and also as a Cub Scout leader and a Brownie leader for her children’s troops. She was known for her care of others evident not only through her nursing and her love of family and church, but in the many letters of encouragement and condolences she sent to a multitude of people. Her letters were how she stayed close and shared her love with each of her grandchildren, family and the people she held close in her heart.
She passed on her love of gardening and the outdoors to her children and grandchildren whom she loved to babysit.
