Joan Leith

November 15, 1943 — August 7, 2022

Joan Leith née Maselli, born 15 November 1943, passed away on 7 August 2022 at the age of 78.

Joan was born in Woodbridge, Connecticut, daughter of William and Marie Maselli née Ballsiger. She graduated from Amity Regional High School and proceeded to attend Quinnipiac University, studying Spanish.

Joan later met her husband, Donal, on the beach while on vacation in Lake Worth, Florida. Donal was immediately enamored and summoned up the courage to approach Joan despite her mother’s intimidating presence. They married shortly after in Palm Beach. Later, Joan and Donal moved to the greater Philadelphia area where they raised their daughter and remained for 35 years. Together they embarked on many travels, favorite destinations including Scotland, Mexico, Japan and Thailand.

Joan worked at Nordstrom for many years, where she was a top salesperson. After Donal passed in 2001, Joan moved to Manatee County, Florida, where she worked at Something Blue Bridal Boutique until her retirement in 2012. A lover of all animals (except for snakes and spiders), Joan has spent her retirement enjoying the company of her beloved pets, most recently her dog, Bentley, and parrot, Dino.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Christine Leith Shea; her son-in-law, Thomas; her grandchildren, Jack, Madison, and Christopher; her brother, William Maselli (companion Kathy); her nephew, Richard (Jen); her sister-in-law, Virginia Leith; and many cousins and close friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donal Leith.
