Stuart Turville O'Neal, Jr.

April 2, 1946 — September 27, 2021

Stuart Turville O’Neal, Jr. of Fort Washington, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully, surrounded by his sons, on September 27, 2021. He passed away after a short hospitalization at Abington Memorial Hospital, where he was cared for by the hospital’s nurses and doctors, to whom the O’Neal family extends its sincere appreciation and thanks for their compassion and dedication.

Stuart was born on April 2, 1946 and resided in Southampton, Pennsylvania while growing up. He attended William Tennent High School and then on to Gettysburg College where he focused on business and finance, and was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He is married to Rita O’Neal (nee Davis) and had two sons Stuart “Tye” O’Neal III and Kelly O’Neal) and together, they raised their family first, in the Maple Glen section of Upper Dublin Township, and then in the Fort Washington section of Upper Dublin for close to 30 years. Stuart was a proud Vietnam Veteran, having served our country as a Riverboat Commander, where he received various medals for both his service and bravery. He was a member of charitable boards in the Upper Dublin community and was formerly a member of Upper Dublin Lutheran church.

Most important to Stuart was his family, and they all knew that, every day. He is survived by his wife Rita and his two sons: Stuart “Tye” O’Neal III and his fiancé, Andrea Johnson, and by son Kelly O’Neal and his wife, Jamie Stanley O’Neal, and grandchildren, whom he cherished and was affectionately known to them as “Big Dad”: Owen Joseph O’Neal, Molly Madeleine O’Neal, Leah Marie O’Neal, Ryann O’Neal and Regan O’Neal. To say they will all miss him terribly is an understatement.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Stuart T. O’Neal (a/k/a “The Fossil”) and Dorothy O’Neal.

Stuart touched the lives of many on a daily basis. He enjoyed the Eagles, playing golf, visiting the shore, socializing with others and most of all, spending time with his family. He was selfless when helping others, and was someone that could always counted on, regardless of relation.
